My blog extreme-check-engine-light-codes.com made a car battery repair video to show you how to test and repair a bad battery. Before installing a battery on your car, always load test the battery to check if the battery cell inside is damaged. This is particularly true when installing cheap…

MY ALT VOLTS WHERE 14.9 VOLTS AND MY S10 BLAZER BURNS THE COMPUTER FUSE AFTER A FEW MIN RUNNING WILL KEEP ON BURNING EVERY FUSE I INSTALL BUTT IF I WAIT FOR AND HOUR AND TRY A NEW FUSE IT WILL NOT BURN WHY? IS THIS
i got the 12.8 V with car off. when started i got 13.6V is that good?

that electrical system sucks, mine charges at 14.5 volts, and I was able to get a 9 volt dead battery back up to 12.8 volts in about 10 minutes
you can jump your car and drive it, but while your driving is what you have to worry about, your battery is only ment to start the car the alternator is ment to keep your battery charged, your car cannot run for long on just battery power, therefor your car will die due to no charge to your spark plugs, so your pretty much wasting money on a new battery
mine starts with a little push lol
well your battery might just be bad cuz if you can jump your car and drive it, its definately not the alternator cuz if it was even if you jumped your battery your car would shut off in 5 mins or less, so i’d say get a new battery, that should work. and if you have an amp for speakers or some thing that runs while the car is off, it’ll drain the battery
I agree with m1sterh0tsauc2 and fuck you Rober5185, your a fucking dumbass, he put this video on here so people who aint got the fuckin money to spend on somethin so simple, not everybody’s a rich fag like you that has there fuckin mommy and daddy buy em everything, most people have to work for there money and earn it not just have it givin to them. go think bout that
amps
You can get a magnetic field produced from the starter too, that doesnt mean it has a working voltage regulator on it
Though your suggestion can work for older cars, using that method on newer cars can damage its computer especially if you get a spark at the terminal which sends a spike back into the electronics.
The proper way to test a battery is with a load tester.
Idiot. When checking the charging rate you need to do it in AMPS not VOLTS. You want to know what the Alternator is putting in NOT what the battery is putting out. Volts have nothing to do with the charging rate.
i have a stock 97 gmc truck think my alt can handle 4 100 watt off road lights?
your lights will come on even if the battery is fried you should start the car then unhook the battery if the car dies you have a bad alt if it satys running you most likely have a bad batt.
then it with pull the screwdriver into the pulley and throw it at your head lol
…and an amateur he is. Just because you got some ASE certificate doesn’t make you an engineer or an expert on any level. Experience and knowledge is what shows true mechanic craftsmanship, and it certainly doesn’t make you a good business person either.
he didn’t do anything to damage any area of the car, he mearly tested the battery and alternator…anybody can do that. Why would you take your car to a professional for a job that can be done by a amateur…
is it possible for my battery to be dead but still have my dome/head lights functioning properly? i just jumped my car even though my lights all worked and everything was fine until the next day i put the key in and NOTHING. i jumped the battery again and it’ll probably be dead again soon. i’m worried it could be something worse than just the battery because of the functioning lights because i thought that if it were the battery i shouldn’t have any electricity at all. any thoughts?
I’m a professional, dude, and this guy knows what he is talking about, the one who should know how to be a real man is you, and not to run like little girl screaming for help when have a little problem with the car.
This guy is full of shit don’t listen to him he will fry your electrical system. Just take your car to a professional not these NTB fags they are borderline retards no wait they are retards !!!
then its probably on backwards lol i dunno
hey agent7vm, what if it produces a magnetic force at the pulley

Some MOre tips for when you dont have a multimeter:
If the car dies when you disconect the battery that means the alternator is not producing any power
Also when alternator is working properly will produce a magnetic force at the rear side of the shaft place a screwdriver close to it, if it pulls it that means alternator is generating power.
@Chevenitsu
Do you have a battery saver in your
vehicle circuit? Sometimes you have
to wait upto one hour and see if the drain
still exist.
@2ub40
Then disconnect your circuit fuses one
by one while you check the drain
voltmeter reading every time you
disconnect it. The last fuse you will
disconnect that shows no drain is
the culprit. Then that is where you will
find the shorted wire causing the drain.
You might need a wiring diagram for this
if the wiring shorted is verified.
yes but if u put a new battery the drain still keeps going on! how do u fix that?
@ chevenitsu, what are you talking about??? If you connect a ‘volt’ meter as you describe you get bugger all because volt meters work in parrallel, you have just told everyone to put it in series. what you are describing is an amp meter connection in series. THIS is an AMPS draw test, not a VOLT test. Oh yes learn to spell as well. People are now dummer for reading your input. Depending on the vehicle about 60-70 mA is ok.
@Chevenitsu
One of the best way to do battery parasitic load test!
Thanks!
to check for a parasitic load you need a volt meter, set it on 20volt range. find the battarys positive lead post (+) and remove it from the battary. you will use the volt meter leads to brige the gap. put the (+) from the volt meter to the cars positve cable then put the (-) from the volt meter to batarys (+) top post. if theres exessive voltage there is a problem
somethings still on!!! -adam felix”
Can’t argue about because you are absolutely right! Excellent comment!
Thanks!
Hydrogen has no odor or color and can combust at 4% volume vs15% for gasoline. Any source of ignition near a battery can be dangerous. I know personally two others that have had a battery blow up. One from jump starting and one carrying a battery while also holding a lit cigarette. Always make the last connection when jump starting to the frame or engine block so the spark will be away from the battery. And of course NO SMOKING!!!
Sorry to hear your sad experience. Not trying to make my method correct but a lot of times when I go to 3rd world countries like the Far East, most people there check the strength of the battery by running a jumper cable across the battery terminals using “spark” test. This is because they cannot afford those expensive tester. However, when working with an old battery like yours (70s), I would highly recommend to wear a face shield at least.
Thanks!
I was tuning up a 70′s Subaru using an old timing light that connects directly to a spark plug lead. The top of the battery was a convenient place to put the timing light. The timing light sat on top of the battery for maybe 10 or 15 seconds before an explosion blew the top off the battery off spraying acid and bits of plastic all over me and the car. Fortunately, I wear glasses or I might have been blinded. Two small pieces of plastic had to be pulled out of my forehead.
To been there, done that:
However, your method applies to a garage where everything like testers are available. Not in most situations where the driver has to deal it himself. Caution to anybody who will try this “spark” test:
1.) make sure battery is not wet with acid because of leaks.
2.) accompanied by a bad rotten egg smell, it indicates battery internal problem which must be condemned and replaced right away.
Hope this helps!
making sparks around the battery can be hazardous. if the battery is making hydrogen from charging a spark may ignite the hydrogen causing an explosion that could wreck the battery and blow pieces of plastic and battery acid into your face and eyes. Been there done that.
you have to hold the load button for at least 15 seconds.
Hi… There is no battery repair. If you watch the video, it’s about repairing an engine no start that involved a battery problem. You must have focused on the title but the video involves testing and replacement of battery.
what about the repair?
