@Erichballa Electrocution. Need I say more?
what happens if you take the positive off first?
the j hook lives in a hole right here
thank you for posting, with the most important comment from the very beginning: remove the negative [black] lead cable first from the dead battery, replace with new battery, and reconnect the negative lead cable last to the new battery.
Thanks for helping me gain man points.
@jfefrey this is a j hook, it looks like a j
This really helped me. I have to remove my battery tomorrow to replace the radiator coolant line

i fucking hate toyota commercials
simple, if you put the ground on first, your battery is grounded, and as you put on the positive cable, it will spark all over the place, if it’s not grounded, it wont spark
simple hot and cold
god fucking dammit i hate expertvilliage
Be sure to observe the following order of work!
Failure to comply with the correct sequence can lead to triggering squib disconnector batteries and electrical damage to the car.
If the terminal of the battery mounted on the positive findings closely enough:
- Disconnect the negative cable first-hand, from the negative terminal of the battery.
- Then disconnect the positive cable-needle-positive terminals of the battery.
Thanks for a good review! This video is the only one that mentions which battery post to take off first (negative) and put on first (positive). Would be nice to explain why.
thank you very much

@timsb2004, cant you just do it in reverse to put a new one in?
Thanks for showing this on a subaru! I needed to remove the battery to get to my left side low beam headlight.
Cheers for the video, just helped me remove & replace my first car battery
it’s in their next video
I know right? I was just going to do the same steps in reverse, but that wouldn’t make much sense now would it?
why didn’t they show how to put the new one in..crud
not all batteries have that clip. and it doesn’t really matter what cable you unhook first
