Loose Generator Drive Belt leading to a drained battery?

Question by diyta: Loose Generator Drive Belt leading to a drained battery?
I have a 98 Cavalier, for the past couple of weeks, I’ve heard a noise which I can only assume is a loose belt, it didn’t cound like the fan belt however…Now, the noise has stopped, but the charging system light is on…I checked my owner’s manual and it said the following :

“If it stays on, or comes on while you are driving,
you may have a problem with the electrical charging system. It could indicate that you have a loose generator drive belt, or another electrical problem. Have it checked right away. Driving while this light is on could
drain your battery.”

With that being said, now my interior lights, such as the speedometer, etc. is very dim as if the battery is dying…the car is running fine, like I said, the belt noise is oddly gone all of a sudden but not there’s the battery light that stays on…what could this be, something as simple as needing to change the belt?

Cheap Car Battery Prices Are One Idea But

Trying to find cheap car battery prices is another!  I have yet to find any.  Especially if you are looking for a hybrid battery.  New hybrid batteries range from ,000 to ,300!  I don’t know about you but I don’t think everybody has an extra ,000 in their pocket that they can just throw out on the counter.

This happened a few months ago when I saw that red triangle light up in the middle of the dashboard.  This couldn’t be happening!  Money was tight and the wife was going to have a baby in a month, maybe sooner.  So I had no chose.  I needed the transportation.  There had to be some cheap car battery prices that my wallet could afford.

With all the focus there is on recycling these days there has to be cheap car battery prices out there that are a little more reasonable in price.  So I started dialing on the phone and making calls.  Just going down the list from one dealership to the next.

I was discussing it with a co-worker at lunch one day who owned a hybrid car from a different car maker.  He told me that he experienced the same thing when looking for cheap car battery prices a few months ago.  He chose to buy a battery that was refurbished at the factory.

So you would think the quality of the hybrid battery would be higher since it was done in the factory.  So was the price!  A total of ,200!  The search for cheap car battery prices continued.  I decided to quit calling dealerships and start looking online instead.  I’ll bet ya Amazon sells the darn things.  As the new page came up I saw nothing there.

Thinking to myself, “Now where would I start looking for cheap car battery prices?”  Ebay, Craig’s List?  God knows even Amazon probably has something up for sale.

So I erased that and tried another search when something else came up.  It was not about cheap car battery prices but was referring to rebuilding your own hybrid battery by yourself.  I always say, “If you do not take a look, the only loser is yourself.”  It was probably some guide for a mechanic with years of experience but I had nothing but time on my hands at the moment.

As I was reading the page I scrolled down to some of the comments and testimonies.  A couple of guys said they did it in three days.  If they would have not had other engagements scheduled, they probably could have done it in less time.  I might have started out looking for cheap car battery prices but this might be the answer.  Most of all, I had a wife expecting a baby in three to four weeks.  I needed that car up and running again, PRONTO!

Cheap car battery prices?  They said this guide would show you how to rebuild the battery for an average cost of 0.  0! Now THAT sounds a little more in my price range.
